Artwork for Promotional Bags

Friday, April 24th, 2009

Would you like to choose your own artwork for your promotional bags? Many companies that produce promotional bags allow you to provide the artwork that will appear on the bag. You need to make sure what format that image should be in. Many prefer a PDF file sent to them and may not accept BMP, JPG, GIF and PNG that are not appropriate for many print jobs. Others will take a high-resolution TIF format.

It is also recommended that for multiple color artwork, the best formats are Adobe Illustrator files, (.AI), EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) or Corel DRAW version 11 or lower, (.CDR) and all fonts be converted to curves, paths or outlines. Pixilated files such as TIF, BMP, JPG, GIF and PNG are not appropriate for print jobs that require printing in spot colors because they cannot separate properly for printing.

If the only image format that you can provide is a JPG or GIF, you may need to pay an extra fee for the artwork to be put into a suitable format. Otherwise, all you have to do is send a digital file via e-mail or on a CD-R or floppy disk to the company. Just make sure that you retain a copy of your image in case something happens to the one you sent.

One company, Bags on the Net, actually has templates that are available for customers to use. They use Adobe Illustrator for their templates. They provide some of the best custom printed bags on the net. They also provide euro tote bags and custom packaging.

If you would rather let the company take care of the artwork, many have design groups that can prepare custom artwork just for you. Of course, there will be an additional fee for this.

Simple typesetting may be free. You provide the information when you submit your order. Remember, the larger your order, the lower the cost.
