On Thursday, April 3, over 16 meeting people watched the last episode of ER, ending a 15-year run. The only other drama series to have that big of an audience was back in 1996, “Murder, She Wrote”. These are the kind of shows we all wish would just keep on going.

The finale had stars Noah Wyle, Eriq La Salle and Laura Innes to help say goodbye to the series. The show ended on a hopeful and tearjerker note with Dr. Mark Greene’s daughter, Rachel, returning as a potential doctor. She was their first interview as a medical student. She is following in her father’s footsteps.

It was the biggest audience for a drama series finale since “Murder, She Wrote” on CBS in 1996, Nielsen Media Research said on Friday.
